Mental Health Workshops for Schools in Victoria
ABOUT US
The Big Sister Experience is committed to supporting young people, their parents, and educators with evidence-based programs. Using a heart-centred approach combined with decades of teaching experience, our mission is to create safe spaces for Victorian students to feel uplifted, understood, and heard without judgement.
The Big Sister Experience for Primary and Secondary Schools
Since launching in 2019, we’ve brought The Big Sister Experience to over 25,000 students around Australia. Our core workshops are loved by teachers and students alike, involving an interactive and engaging approach to imparting valuable lessons on mental, social, and physical health. The Complete Big Sister Experience comprises three workshops delivered over one year, 18 months, or 3 consecutive years.
What will students learn?
The Complete Big Sister Experience involves three sequential workshops, each building on the last.
Modules are based on a combination of current research, questions we are frequently asked by students, as well as emerging needs we see working in schools across the state.
All sessions are highly interactive and engage students with a "show, don't tell" method of imparting essential life education. Content will differ for Primary and Secondary students, but we explore the same key ideas.
To learn more, ask our team for our workshop module guides.
Exploring Self
How we can make self-love and self-care a priority, with steps to take to improve body image, manage anxiety, and support our peers in the sisterhood.
Exploring Connections
How to be a good friend, resolve conflicts, and bring inclusivity to our circles both on and offline. For high school students, this includes modules on peer pressure and safe partying.
Exploring Health
Making connections between the mind and body by exploring consent, voicing our boundaries, menstruation, and healthy relationships.
