OUR ENGAGING WORKSHOP EXPERIENCES OFFERED TO YEAR 5 & 6 STUDENTS
FOR YEAR 5 & 6 STUDENTS
The Complete Big Sister Experience
The Complete Big Sister Experience is a progressive experience consisting of full day workshops for girls and gender diverse students. The workshops can be experienced over a year or three consecutive years.
WORKSHOPS
Duration: Full Day Per Workshop
Workshops can be experienced over one year, 18 months, or 3 consecutive years.
Enhance your mental health curriculum with our comprehensive modules. Each workshop builds on the last, based on current research, questions we’re frequently asked by students, as well as emerging needs we see working in schools across the state. All sessions are structured with a “show, don't tell" method of imparting essential life lessons, for a balanced approach to learning and wellbeing. The modules are presented in formats that are easy for children and tweens to understand.
benefits and outcomes
The wellbeing benefits of The Big Sister Experience programs for primary school students include:
Early intervention and coping strategies can help manage mental health and self-image challenges as children become teenagers.
Years 5 & 6 are a critical age for developing social skills and awareness, which can reduce instances of bullying, social isolation, and interpersonal conflicts.
Social and emotional learning programs like The Big Sister Experience are shown to improve students’ attitudes towards school.
The Big Sister Experience for Primary Schools is designed to empower your Year 5 & 6 students with engaging and practical workshops. Across three sessions, we’ll cover topics related to mental wellbeing, socialising, and health. The outcomes are to:
Empower young students with tools for self-love, mental health awareness, body positivity, and supportive peer relationships.
Nurture social skills to help students create positive friendship dynamics, handle challenges, and foster supportive relationships both online and with trusted adults.
Build understandings of female health, and create foundations for communicating personal boundaries and consent.
FOR YEAR 6 & 7 STUDENTS
TRANSITION TO HIGH SCHOOL
Interactive, practical and hands on, our transition workshops aim to equip students with the skills needed to aid in a smooth transition to high school, to:
→ Address common anxiety triggers leading up and during the first year of high school.
→ Give students strategies to self-regulate and support one another through common social issues.
→ Provide tools for organisation and motivation to manage academic workloads from Year 7 onwards.
→ Promote a sense of unity throughout the year level with interactive activities, showing students they’re not alone in their fears around the transition period.
“The openness and honesty of the program as well as the students involved. Creating that safe space was fantastic. I also enjoyed how time was allocated, meaning that it was a good ratio of lesson, to activity and brain breaks.”
